About Us

A brief look at the history of the Alexandria United Methodist Church . . . in 1867 the Annual Conference of the Minnesota Church voted to establish a church in Alexandria, Minnesota.  The congregation worshiped in the old community hall until its first building was constructed in 1868 on the present property of the post office on the corner of Fillmore and 6th Avenue West.  In 1970 the congregation relocated to its present facilities at 2210 6th Avenue East.  The Alexandria United Methodist Church has been in service to Christ in Alexandria and all over the world for 140 years.  Building upon its rich heritage of social justice ministry, the Alexandria United Methodist Church will continue to proclaim grace and freedom in the name and Spirit of Christ.

Our Mission Statement . . .To grow and live in the Spirit of Christ.

Our Membership . . . at the close of 2013 we had 450 professing members and 100 baptized members, as well as 90+ constituents/friends of Alexandria UMC.  New members are welcomed several times during the year at one of the Sunday morning worship services.  We have an informal gathering of those who are interested in membership on an evening a week or two before reception to get to know one another and to answer any questions prospective members might have.  If you are interested in membership, please contact us.
